StarTech.com USB 3.0 to HDMI Adapter, USB to HDMI Monitor Converter for Windows, 1080P, TAA (no support for macOS/ChromeOS/Linux)

I've been buying these for years and have never had any issues with these. Some computers may need to be rebooted after the fact to avoid any blinking or resolution issues, but once it has been rebooted it should be 100% trouble free. Very useful product for adding that 3rd LCD or a 2nd to a laptop.

Tried a cheaper one, but it was very laggy, and not useful at all. This one is more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Works great, no lag. Just works as it should!

I am not all that tech savvy-I did enough research to figure out this was the kind of device that might help me hook up a second monitor to my laptop and then I took a leap of faith….but it worked perfectly. It came with a disk and instructions plus their website was quite helpful….as I said, I didn’t need to do any troubleshooting but the help was there.

As the title says, once I was able to install the driver, it's working perfectly to hook a second external monitor up to my older laptop that only has 1 HDMI port, and no USB C ports. The driver does come with the adapter, but it's on CD! The good news is you can also download it from the manufacturer's website. I had to get our IT Dept. involved to download the driver onto my work computer, but once I had the right permissions, it installed very easily and is working beautifully.

I have needed to add additional monitor support to an old Dell OptiPlex 7080. The motherboard has two displayport connections that was sufficient to support the two on desk monitors. But in the complex situation I'm dealing with I had installed a GeForce GT 1030 (1 x HDMI and 1 x Displayport) to bring the total to 4 monitors. At that point, there were no other possible video outputs via the system. Still, a 5th display was needed and after looking through all of the available listings on Amazon, I decided upon the Startech USB32HDES. I followed the instructions to install the driver on the Startech website, reboot the PC, and connect the adapter. The 5 monitor came alive after that and the setup now has 5 active displays.This product was exactly what I needed to complete this build out!

FINALLY! I have tried 4 different USB to HDMI adapters and this was the winner. All I was trying to do was connect a TV to my work desktop as a 3rd extended screen. My HP Desktop only has one HDMI port, which was already taken up by a second monitor. That left me with only my 3.0 USB to use. After trying 3 other options, which all failed, I finally ordered the StarTech Adapter and it worked! It was plug-and-play, no sketchy downloads needed, and provides an extended display that is clear, edge to edge, and has no lag. The device does not overheat after being on for my full 9 hour work days either. I can't recommend this option enough. Don't waste your time with the other options like I did and just go with the StarTech Adapter, you'll thank yourself later.

The media could not be loaded. Funciona correctamente para 2 pantallas extras, solo bastó con instalar el driver y quedó listo, tiene un poco de lag pero tampoco es molesto si no vas a usar la tercera pantalla para juegos o cosas por el estilo, lo usaré para trabajos de ingeniería y el pequeño lag no representa ningún problema

! I am giving this a 1 star rating because i cannot give it zero stars !Upon first connecting this adapter everything seemed to work fine. I used it for about 30 minutes with my monitors before having to step away from the system for a few hours. When I came back my system had hibernated and appeared to not be able to wake up. After rebooting the system and finding the same issue I disconnected the only thing that had changed in my environment, the StarTech.com Slim USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter. The main monitor (directly connected to the system via HDMI) woke up and responded without issue. Once fully logged back into the OS (Windows 10) the second monitor (connected to this adapter) seemed to once again work fine. After a few minutes though there were once again issues. Any program or application window placed on the second monitor would, after a few minutes, be kicked over to the main monitor automatically at which point all monitors would flicker on an off with the second monitor staying out for a few moments. This happened repeatedly over the course of about 30 minutes. Once i removed the adapter from the USB port the issue stopped reoccurring. After doing a fair amount of research, including attempting to upgrade all drivers and software, i read through some more reviews here and found that others are having the same issues with this adapter. I have had this adapter connected and configured for less than a day and am returning it. Do not buy this adapter, look elsewhere.
