Q: I have just received my pack, but the roasting date is blurred out - please can you advise when the coffee was roasted?

I never worry about dates open it taste it if you like it great. I shop on a site called approved food where everything is past its date. I've had coffee roasted from 2017 and use by 2018 perfectly good. I suggest either get a refund if not happy or just try it and see.

No, this packaging is not currently recyclable. Much like a lot of freshness foils found in supermarkets, the foil consists of plastic foil combined with a one-way valve to keep freshness. Oxygen is the enemy of fresh coffee and it's very very challenging to find coffee bags with valves that are ecologically sound and store coffee freshly. The whole coffee industry is looking for a solution and most coffee packaging is not currently recyclable. Currently, it's in the hands of the packaging industry to come with a solution, which we will definitely use when we find viable packaging.

Q: how much caffeine in this (decaf all has some caffeine)?

It’s almost caffeine free but what people should be more concerned about is the process of decaffeination. Only the Swiss Water process is clean and chemically free method of removing caffeine. Potential 0.01% of remaining caffein is not detectable, yet it’s definitely less damaging then chemicals in your body introduced by other non-environmentally friendly processes. The value of this particular brand apart from its amazing taste, is their premium single origin coffee and clean methods of decaffeination. And no, I do work for the company, but I really enjoy their various coffees including the decaffeinated one.

Q: How fresh is the coffee usually? Does it have a roasted on date?

We receive deliveries weekly from the roastery - normally in batches that last a month on Amazon. You have to consider that when you buy from Amazon, when it's stored at Amazon, it needs a reasonable amount of inventory of all times. It does not have a roasted on date, but has a use by of 1 year, so you can tell from the use by date. In any case, if you are after the freshest coffee possible, it's best to go direct to the roastery itself.
