Never having played sax before I did not want to spend a lot of money in case I didn't take to the instrument. I also wanted to steer clear of the cheapest instruments, from the reviews many of which are mass produced in China. It plays fine - and I haven't found any problems with it. I'm just about managing Careless Whisper on it and that covers a broad range of notes. Its also beautiful to look at and so I treated myself to a good stand to put it on. This sax looks too good to hide away in a box. This sax does come with a sturdy case to carry it in plus various other things to help the beginner. To conclude, a perfect sax for beginners.

Purchased this from Amazon for my 10yo son who has just graduated from the clainet to the saxaphone, he has had it for about 3 months and has made good progress so far. Sounds good and feels like a much more expensive instrument, all in all, we are both happy with this purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a good entry level alto sax.

Certainly a good sax for beginners like myself and feels very well made . I took advice as mentioned in other reviews to change the mouthpiece to a Yamaha 4c alto mouthpiece . This change massively improves the sound and ease of play of the saxophone , especially if you're a beginner . All in all very good , punches well above its weight

This was the very first Saxophone I ever purchased at the age of sixty. Never played an instrument before taking up the Clarinet at the age of fifty nine and then progressed to the sax. It has a good sound and found it very easy to learn on. I have since bought several more saxophones of different makes but still go back to this one occasionally.

It is a good instrument for a beginner, but you will have to invest more money to make it sound right.I wasn’t convinced about all of the flaps fitting tightly to the sound holes, and I was right. Some of the pads were letting air out, which deformed the sound.And not everything it says on its box is right!On the box it says: Accessories- Locking deluxe next strap, metal clip and non-slip neck pad. - Rubbish! Just a cheap strap with no pad and just a plastic clip is in the case.- Double reed guard - Completely missingNot even the case is the same as it shows on the picture on the box!And do you know what was another problem I had?Just look at the first picture to see the quality of the reed that it came with...How do I know I haven’t received some cheap rubbish knock-off of the proper instrument?I wonder whether I should bother with returning the sax, or rather invest into putting it right instead of relying on the instrument I buy next being alright.

I was hoping to pick up the saxophone again after 20 years, at an affordable price, and this didn't disappoint. It was a great purchase. The ligature is a bit on the flimsy side so I replaced that and the neck strap needs to be replaced for a more comfortable one. The saxophone sounds lovely and looks great.

Bought 7th December. I notice now (March) that returns were only allowed until 31st January. So, as I understand that, a 60 day warranty (max) on a £300 item....Anyhow, reason for the delay was that, come my daughter's first saxophone lesson the other week, the teacher noticed that the key you press to get the higher notes did not work - and in his opinion could never have been checked. She hadn't played it until then - so we are off now looking for a repair.Fascinated to note the manufacturers comment: "Generations of experience, precise design, modern hi-tech manufacturing techniques, careful quality control, consistent attention to detail, and a personal touch are all hallmarks of Oddyssey instruments."Nonsense. I received a product with an obvious (though not to me, as I don't play) basic fault - which I now look like I have to repair at my expense. Lesson - don't buy from this manufacturer and don't buy on line- go to a shop instead
