Q: Why was it designed without filter? do fruit juices retain a lot of residue?

Think the designed it with no filter as the auger does a pretty good job of separating the juice from the pulp on its own. Makes it a LOT easier to keep clean. Our old juicer was a pain to clean, especially after oranges or anything with a lot of fibres in it. As its easier to clean there's less chance of moulds & bacteria building up in the machine. I've found my juice pretty clear, but I suppose you could put a mini coffee filter paper over your glass is you wanted totally clear juices. I've not found it necessary though. Hope that helps as its a bit subjective!?
