Great stick for sauer kraut packing.

Was using the butt-end of a meat clever to tamp down my sauerkraut makings. Then I got this tamper tool and wow, what a difference; saves time and can now pack more cabbage in the canning jar. It's both quick and efficient for tamping cabbage for sauerkraut!

I would give this 5 stars for the type of wood, the wood's quality, the stompers shape and smooth surface, but it gets 4 stars since no matter what I try, I cannot remove the glue residue that remains on the wood after a difficult effort to remove the sticker. Now, when I use it, my hands stick to the glue residue. Not good.

The stick has many different uses. It's perfect for use as a pestle for grinding coffee beans in the 5 x 5 wood mortar. The pestle that came with my mortar is hollow and fragile. This stick is solid and sturdy! I highly recommend it!

The item is fine. Why does a food processing item need a large sticker that is impossible to remove though? I can't even tell how many times I've tried to wash it to remove the sticker residue and it's still there.

I was amazed at the workmanship of this stick. My father used to do beautiful woodwork and this is equal to his quality. I mean, it's just a kitchen tool to pound cabbage for sauerkraut, and I didn't expect something that would be worthy of display! It's also efficient. The length is perfect, the wood is very smooth. I used the wide end to pound in the bowl, while the smaller end fit perfectly into the jar for additional pounding and pressing. I would buy this again.
