Since mine were for seasonal purposes, they were outside for only a couple of weeks in the fall. Our desert days then were mild and dry. The ones I had out managed satisfactorily, but exposure to wind and moisture over time would probably take their toll on the stems and heads.

Q: Are these treated with chemicals? I’d like to use these as wild bird food/decor.

Nothing states that they have been treated with any chemicals. I have gotten home dried wheat before from a local vendor and these stems are as good and natural as those I’ve purchased before. Work wonderful in decor.

Q: are there bugs in them?

I turn it back immediately when I got it, there were no bugs

Q: How long do they last?

I bought mine in early September and they’re still good. I have extra left over So I put them in a box and I’ll see if I can use them next fall. They’re dried so they’ll last a long time but not sure if there’s a specific shelf life.
