Long story... My background, I have autoimmune thyroid disease and I'm in menopause. I've never been a nail biter and haven't had acrylics or gel in almost 20 years. My nails barely grow on their own. Even when they're painfully short, any and every bump to my fingers would cause them to split and peel. I've tried EVERYTHING. All the protein polishes, supplements, creams, etc. I had very little to no hope for this product.I ordered this on March 10th and have been using it twice a day since. I still have about half of it left. It doesn't take much. It took some time (about 3 months) for my old, weak nails to grow out. I just kept them short. After about a week, I could visibly see the healthy new growth and I was excited. My nails now actually grow, are stronger, and look healthy. If I bump a nail on something, I might get a little knick that can easily be filed away. But no more splitting and peeling. I can't believe I'm actually writing a review for a nail product that does what it promises.I know a lot of people mention the scent. It's lovely. Not that I care. It could smell like a fart. I would just keep my hands away from my face until it wears off. This stuff is amazing and I will throw the most epic tantrum of they ever stop making this or change the formula.The end.

I had a crack at the end of my nail and had it for over 2 years, every time I thought I had it healed, it would crack again. I felt it was just a matter of time before I would have caught it on fabric or something similar and rip my nail off. not knowing what to do to help it heal, I did a google search and found this product on April 20, 2025, I started noticing that it may be working a couple of weeks after using it. Now after two months, I can confidently say that this product worked and my nail has grown out with no split, it has completely grown out and no longer a threat of catching on something.

This stuff really works. To say my nails are horrific is an understatement. They are brittle, break vertically, tear, and completely damaged. I have tried so many different products, but Onyx Hard as Hoofs actually works. I’m pleased with the results and it smells amazing. (I have the island coconut scent) Given how horrible my nails are, I don’t just use it once a day. Anytime I wash my hands or have them in water, I reapply. It seems to be doing the trick.

My ENTIRE life, my nails have been thin, peeling, split, ugly, short glumps. I've tried everything over the years and nothing helped! I look like a nail biter, but I'm not. I've been using this at least 2x day for 4 months and 7 of my fingernails are actually past the tips of my fingers. My thumbs and one pinkie that have always been the worst, are still short, but they seem like they're coming around. This one little jar has lasted 4 months and I slather it on 2, 3, and sometimes 4x day. I'm in awe! I wish I had taken a before pic, but I never in a million years thought it would work! I'm showing a pic of my thumb - that's what ALL my nails looked like. I'm so proud of my other nails that are not peeling and breaking!

Amazing product. I’ve had weak nails my whole life that are thin and tear easily. I almost never had ten nails without at least one cut to the quick after a tear. After a few weeks I could tell they were much stronger and by a month they were really strong. It says you can use it over polish but I think that only helps your cuticles. To maintain strength I remove polish once a week and rub in Hard as Hoof three or four times during the day before I polish them again. Once a week and they have stayed strong and I’ve had no breaks. Cuticles much better too.

This is the one product I would subscribe to, and I already have a backup for when this one is done.I have flaky toe nails and it causes ingrown issues, and this actually has stopped the flaking, allowing my toe nail to grow whole and keeps the skin soft so it doesn't irritate or split during the process. I hate the feeling of lotion on the soles of my feet, and no lotion could get rid of the dry cuticles of my toe nails. Except this.My fingernail took a direct hit from a dull knife during meal prep, and it just lost the fine tip. Didn't break.Nail polish stretheners suffocate my nails of air and moisture, actual oils are messy and too much will make them soft.I have a lot of allergies, and this has never given me a reaction. PLEASE. NEVER CHANGE THIS FORMULATION!

This stuff is incredible. I have never found anything - cream, nail polish, biotin supplements (in all forms) - that could fix my constantly cracking, fragile, peeling fingernails. Until now! When this jar arrived in January, I decided to document my progress with monthly pictures, and I'm glad I did. Seeing is believing!I will say that you have to be very consistent with the application, especially in the first 2-3 months. I took the little jar with me everywhere, even when I traveled, and applied it three times a day, as the label instructs. Note: be sure to rub it into and around your cuticle and nail bed, because I think that's where it makes the most difference.Around month four I got a little sloppy and only applied it maybe once a day for a few weeks, but after chipping a nail (by hitting it on the edge of a cabinet - something that would have torn the nail down to the quick before Hard as Hoof), I went back to at least twice a day. It's probably something I'll have to keep using in order to maintain my nails, but I'm willing to do it. My nails have never been stronger. Highly recommended!

I really love this! I’ve had gel and dip nails for years. Too many to count I finally decided to give my nails a break and they were a huge mess. I’ve been using this in conjunction with another product, OPI’s repair mode, between the two of them my nails are actually starting to look normal again. It’s been two months but I really see the difference. This stuff is also great for softening cuticles and whatever’s left over. I use it all over my hands. Absolutely love it and will definitely buy it again.
