It provides privacy
It does provide privacy at a 45-deg angle or more if you’re looking at the screen, which is nice. However, I decided to remove mine within a week. I noticed a significant loss in screen resolution even looking directly at my screen while sitting right in front of it. Text is pixelated much more with the privacy screen. I stuck mine on a window for demonstration and to confirm I wasn’t going crazy (see photo). It gave me eye strain.
