D40X Excells
Excellent speakers, extremely happy with the purchase. I bought them to play my music collection and needed speakers that recognised flac codec as well as the standard mp3.One point to note my digital music player had to be put at full volume to hear sound on the DX40's but then I was to increase the volume on the speakers. They are certainly loud enough for indoor or outdoor parties.I like having the options of different inputs. Bluetooth(from phone or other music player), usb, sd card, 3.5mm Aux, and optical (For TV or music system).I have found the remote control very useful, and recommend the D40X over D40's version.Although you can input music via SD card or USB, I recommend using Phone,Tablet,MP3 player or computer so you visually pick your music, via artist album or track.

Great Speakers!1
Great product, great sound, easy to set up and the different functions are great. I do have one problem though, I did not know that a cable between speakers had to be attached and thought it could be wireless, the cable that connects speaker to speaker, is not long enough and I am not tech savvy enough to know what extension cable I would need, if indeed there is one, to extend it. There is only the one connection, not like an RCA Cable, although the same connector, so not like an AUX Cable, if that makes sense. I have messaged the manufacturer and hoping for an answer, but if anyone else can assist me, just in case I do not hear back, I would be extremely grateful. Thank You. As I have already written, great speakers, just a shame about that cable. It does beg the question, why not make the cable longer? For those of us that need a wider length between the two speakers. There must be others with the same problem, or am I the only awkward one ::0)

Sound
Well heck, love this…….the reviews were positive but yet you never know! But these are truly fantastic. We are using them to transfer vinyl to MP3 and quality is amazing……to all the younger generations….,you may not quite get the vinyl sound when everything you listen too is so sound engineered and slightly sterile….but these are amazing. We are using them to create a back catalog of Vinyl House music for future releases and sets. Trust me I do not often write a review but these are another level.

Far exceeded expectation and almost 5 star
These are replacing a very old set of PC speakers that have died.I could have bought a bargain basement set of replacement PC speakers for about a quarter of the price, but the sound quality of these units are qualitatively far superior to any PC speakers I have ever heard. These are certainly not HiFi quality, but then the HiFi equivalents to these would start at a cost of at least 10 times the price of these. So these sit somewhere in the cost spectrum between PC speakers and HiFi, and they do acquit themselves well above what I would expect of them in that slot. The have a pleasant sound, without any extraneous artefacts, but without the deep bass or detailed treble one might expect of a HiFi unit. You get what you pay for, and in this case I am very pleased with where that balance of cost and performance leaves me with this unit.I should also add, that since I am driving these from a tablet, from MP3 sound sources, over Bluetooth, even the best HiFi speakers are unlikely to sound that much better with those compromised sound sources. Not only that, but the overall feel of quality (nothing loose, no gaps, no rattles) is pleasant. Even though it is made in China, the company is a UK company with UK support for the product. The only thing I really have an issue with is the lack of grills over them speakers so my concern about whether the speaker diaphragms might be more susceptible to damage. That alone is the only reason why this is not 5 star. In all other respects I would regard this as flawless. It also allows for a wide range of sound sources, but to be fair most people (myself included) will only ever use one or at most two sources. Thus I cannot really make any judgement about how it deals with input from multiple sources since I have only tried this with Bluetooth.A few updates pertaining to the use of Bluetooth with the speakers:Firstly, some have complained that the discrete volume increments on the speakers means it can be difficult to set the speakers to a very quiet setting. This I have been able to mitigate by downloading an app on my tablet that allows greater control over the volue on the tablet which then reflects on finer control of volume coming out of the speakers. The second issue is going to be more difficult to mitigate is a security flaw in the Bluetooth connection. I disconnected by regular tablet from the speaker and then the speaker automatically started hunting for another device to pair to. I then paired another tablet to the speaker without telling the speaker that it was allowed to pair to this device. It could just as easily have been a device from a neighbour that became paired to the speaker. This could become a particular security risk for people who have Alexa or similar voice controlled home automation systems, since it could lead to a situation where someone outside of my home takes control of my speakers and then sends voice commands to Alexa to do things in my home that I did not wish. After using it for a few months, I have had more time to try a few things out with it.The biggest issues with this speaker are with the Bluetooth connection, although some are not so much a fault of the speaker as limitations of Bluetooth.I connected an old external Bluetooth receiver to the auxiliary port of the unit. As the speaker's volume control was not able to control the Bluetooth volume through the external unit, the combination of volume control on the Bluetooth music source with the volume control of the line input of the speaker gave me a very much wider range of control of the volume of the speaker than a direct Bluetooth connection gave me.The external Bluetooth receiver did not auto-pair indiscriminately with any device but had to be manually paired, and so did not have the security issue that the auto-pairing of the Bluetooth connection of the speakers themselves had. That having been said, the external Bluetooth receiver was an older model and the sound quality of the external receiver was definitely inferior to the built in Bluetooth receiver within the speaker. Finally, although mostly I use the speakers for listening Internet Radio, but I did on one occasion also use it for watching a movie with the sound going through the speakers, and I did notice the bad delay in teh sound going through the speakers causing a loss of sync between lip movements in the video and the sound from the speaker (this had been noted by others). This problem arose whether I was using the external Bluetooth receiver or the internal Bluetooth receiver, and so is clearly a limitation of the Bluetooth protocol itself. Some of the newer Bluetooth protocols are supposed to reduce the latency on the sound (possibly having a trade-off between sound quality and sound-latency); so maybe one day I will try and get a more modern external Bluetooth receiver and see if that will do anything to improve lip syncing in videos.

High quality. Clear. Well made
Great sound and high quality for line in. Bluetooth works well. Supplied cables between two speakers are a bit short so be aware if you plan on a wide distance. Given for the high sound quality it would be still worth buying the speakers and getting your own seperate cable

Great Value, excellent sound, easy to use
I bought this having read the reviews and it's everything I hoped it would be and more. I bought it for our club to have some Bluetooth speakers in the pool room. The Speakers have excellent clear sound without distortion at high volumes. So easy to connect to via Bluetooth. For <£70 they really are a bargain. Build quality is good and they feel solid.Being picky, the drivers are exposed so for my public application I would have preferred to have grills on them however I'll place them on a high shelf to avoid them being tampered with.

Does exactly what is said on the box
A great pair of speakers, good power for the price. Good connectivity, required leads and a remote control. What more could you want for a pair of speakers connected to a turntable or Bluetooth. The speakers are solid and heavy. We'll made compared to similar speakers in the price point.
