straightforward solution
A used jet ski I bought did not have a ladder step on it so I purchased this as a cheaper option. Last time out I jumped in the lake to cool off and to test the ladder. After being in the middle of the lake I realized that testing it under that condition and not close to the shore might not have been my better decision... Anyways it worked. The first rung was in the water, some buoyancy but not awkward enough that I couldn't get my foot on it. The second higher rung was to close to the jet ski to be used but no problem as I was able to stand directly on the ski regardless. The velcro wrap is a little awkward I just rolled it up and stuck in the ski back seat hard handle, if stays in place. There is some stretch to the rope but not enough to make a problem. The only thing to experience now is how long this will last but so far it was a smart, cheaper option. Recommended buy.

Works on an inboard ski boat with platform
Item is a good length. We attached it to the tow hook on the back. We added a small piece of pool noodle to the top but the rungs also float. We tied a loop above the noodle for the hook. It takes a little getting used to, figuring out your technique. We may add a ski handle from the pylon to help with pulling up. Good for us "seniors" that still like to do a lot on the water. If the upper rung was a little lower I would have given it 5 stars.

Not great, but it helps
I purchased this on for my PWC to help my 9 year old daughter board in case she falls off accidentally in deep water. I installed it on the rear tow eye.I took my daughter to an area where the water was chest high and had her test it for a while so she could learn how to use it. The ladder unrolls easily and the rungs, which are wrapped in a foam covering, will float. This makes boarding a little awkward at first because you need to get your foot on the rung and push it down under the water (not too bad). The most awkward part is that the rungs move under the watercraft as you are climbing up. It took my daughter about 10 tries before she successfully boarded using the ladder. Since then, she uses it well, but may need 3 attempts.I also tried to use the ladder. I weigh 215 pounds. When I put my weight on the top rung, I could feel the rung deflecting as it struggled to support my weight. However, on a second attempt, I only used the bottom rung as a boost and it made boarding much easier than without the ladder. While using the bottom rung only, my entire weight was not on the rung since most of my body was still in the water.Pros:Rope and rungs are soft and are not a concern for causing any body damage to the wave runner.Quick cheap option for a ladder (Its hard to justify spending much on a true boarding step when the PWC is older and not worth much itself). It does help. Even though its a struggle, without this ladder, my daughter would not be able to board.Rung heights can be adjusted my undoing a tying knots in other locations.Cons:Does not secure well in the wrapped position. Sometimes after riding a while, the ladder will unravel itself. Not the end of the wor;d. I'll just come up with a better method of securing it.Ladder rungs floatLadder rungs move under the watercraft as you are climbing up.Feels weak for a heavier person.

This can save your life
While teaching my brother-in-law to man the tiller on a small two handed sailboat, he surprised me by making a jibe turn with the main sheet cleated. He was able to stay aboard, but I wasn't so lucky. That's when I learned just how difficult it is to reboard a small sailboat that is NOT on its side, and the ability to step on the keel is gone. When I got home, I ordered this, and am happy to say that "installing" it took just seconds. Reboarding in any future knockdown or similar man-overboard scenario, will now be relatively easy. If you own any small watercraft, this is cheap insurance.

Doesn't really work
The problem is that if you're in the water, and trying to get yourself back on a boat or dock, the ladder rung just swings out in front of you. (Away) It is very difficult/impossible to bring the rung underneath your body so you can push up instead of out. I gave up after a few minutes and bought an aluminum ladder.
