It's not "Don't Break the Ice", but it's better.
This is a great rendition of a childhood favorite. HEX instead of square. It works best if you put the center block upside down, and set the penguin inside of it. Otherwise, it falls over and knocks pieces loose. This is CHEAP, so don't be frustrated. Enjoy the horrible English translations, on the box. Expect the box will need to be taped. Some of the blocks are slightly more slippy or grippy than others.Assembly is easy: Flip the tray upside down: Install the legs around the edge. Install the blocks in the middle. Put it right-side up, and place the penguin in the center. Unlike the 1980's version, there are no special blocks, nor foot locks, to keep the center creature (ice skating guy, a red bear, or in this case, a peguin), so flip the center block and just set the penguin inside. Snap the hammer head onto the arm.Gameplay is simple: Take turns tapping out a block with a little hammer. Whomever drops the penguin loses. This comes with a spinner you can use to dictate "blue" "white" or "player choice". Or, you can just always do player's choice. You could do more than 2 people if you want. You can drop as many blocks as you want, but only by tapping one block. Whatever block you tap first is the one you have to tap out.Strategy comes into play, setting it up so the penguin is supported by a long, single row of blocks, or a triad of blocks. Or, you have a loose block fall out and doom yourself.

Penguin is doomed to fall.
I'm a therapist, and I bought this game as a "break the ice" game for first sessions with kids. I liked the hexagon design more than the square alternative.Medium quality plastic definitely would only recommend hand washing. The dimensions were smaller than expected. The Spinner is a bit rough and might require a few flicks to get going. The penguin also did not have a flat bottom so he moved to different spots or would tip over when either player would hit a block anywhere on the board. Added an interesting twist to the game I suppose lol. I ended up taping him into place with double-sided Scotch tape.Overall not bad, just an average-quality kids board game. Got the job done. :)

One of our favorite games
My kids 7 and 9, and niece age 3 all LOVE at this game! We even brought it out to visit great grandpa and he couldn’t get enough of it either. It’s perfect for all ages. Easy instructions and so much fun to play! When the local toy drive started advertising, we bought 6 more to donate. Can’t recommend this game enough!

Fun but penguin doesn’t stay
My daughter loves to break the ice with the little plastic hammer but it’s hard to play the game. Penguin doesn’t stay where he’s put and slides all over the place and sometimes off the edge of the game all together.

Knock off is better than the original
I bought this because the original is so boring, all white with an all blue penguin. This may be a knock off but at least it looks more interesting. No, the box does not make sense because it's in broken english, but most reasonable adults can figure out how to play it just fine. It holds together well, comes with two hammers, an actually detailed penguin. It does not have one big piece with a slot for the penguin to slip into, the penguin just sits wherever you put it. In addition, this game comes with a wheel to use on your turn to decide whether you'll hit white, blue, your choice, or lose turn.My 4 year old son prefers this one. The only downside: it's shape makes it more irritating to snap the pieces together. But, for me, not a big deal.

Fun Game
I really enjoyed playing this game with my kids (6yrs & 10 yrs). It's really easy to set up and put away. We play it on a flat surface and it's fun watching the penguin bounce around as you pick at the ice pieces. Highly recommend.

Fun Family Game
My six-year-old son saw this game on a commercial and wanted it. It’s fairly easy to set up and fun for the entire family, even his slightly older siblings and parents got into the action!
