I loved this book.
I had many of the Tin Tin books as a child in both French and English, but I never read this one before. It met all expectations I had and reminded me of just why I liked the series. The book is written comic book style, which is today often called "Graphic Novel." It is bright and simple enough that my 7 year old grandson liked us to read it together and enjoyed it.

English translation not as good as original, but still enjoyable.
Bought it for my son-in-law who showed interest in my French copy.

Terrific adventure stories with a great sense of humor, intrigue and great characters for kids to enjoy
My son loved these stories and now my grandsons are equally enthusiastic about them. Loved to have them read to them and now are reading themselves. Great for beginning readers as there is a large vocabulary, much larger than in the easy readers. I highly recommend them for 4 or 5 and up.

Probably the best Tintin adventure.
The non-stop action begins on page one and doesn't let up until our intrepid reporter has put the entire criminal underworld of 1920's Chicago behind bars. He also makes wider forays into the wild west and the prairies.Herg'e deftly satirises the irony and corruption of the burgeoning American dream, but also captures the runaway energy and youthful optimism of a young, developing America.Hence we see native Americans forced off their land within half an hour of oil being discovered, or cops saluting as gangsters walk by. The relentless energy and comic irony of events hits you at every turn, making this book probably the most gripping page-turner of all the Tintin series.

New editions with "behind the back" pages!
I grew up with Tintin and am so happy to be able to purchase new editions of the favorite world-famous stories for my kids! This handsome paperbark edition has a number of pages at the end telling of the fascinating way author Herge' researched and imagined the details of his wonderful, geographically realistic and adventuresome stories! Highly recommended! These will make wonderful gifts as they can be enjoyed again and again. I suspect with the new movie out, Tintin will finally become popular in the USA!
