Easy to follow directions
I am a first timer in origami and this book is so helpful. The directions are clear and easy to follow. So glad I purchased this.

It's like a dictionary
An encyclopedia would have a multitude of references and volumes to access. This is like a short hand basics to intermediate to advanced skills in one book? However it also reminds me of a glossary at the end of a book but with pictures to show you how to fold and crease properly-ish (which is a thing kind of skipped over in this book and shouldn't be). Sooo read carefully and pay attention to the way that it's worded and the pictures are placed. I was backwards a couple times which shouldn't have mattered. It's good for literacy in technique I would have to say to sum it up.

Great book - but the adverts are missing a telling piece
This is a bit strange, but while the book is one to love, the FIRST Edition which I already own was ALSO the one to love! I do NOT recall any description stating that this is a reprint of The Encyclopedia of Origami (NOTE - the first edition does NOT have "Technique" as part of the title - so the small picture on THIS edition that says "Previously published as [a photo of the first edition cover but with the word "Techniques" on it]" My hard back copy does not have that. So, now I own two copies of the same book - well, the text and photos seem to be identical. I am a bit annoyed that Amazon did not mention this - at least I never noticed it - but them I could have checked my very large library of origami books, especially since this type of thing seems to occur often in this area. Hmmm, I cannot think that creators as gifted and as generous as Mr. Robinson and others are nefariously plotting to make even more millions by bamboozling careless readers, but I do wonder about the publishers . . . hmmm. Oh well, it is not like I am frugal with the money I spend on origami paper and books and other works by my (many) betters, but I do rankle a bit that this duplication seems a bit duplicitous and that I was, even if self-imposed, a bit too easily duped. Paul C - (a bit put-off, but I still would be honored to buy Mr. Robinson a glass of his favorite adult beverage.)

The structure is fantastic. Well developed illustrations. Best origami book I have now.

Many techniques.
I'm overwhelmed with the number of techniques and projects to do. Can hardly until I have time to sit down with the book and create.

Good instructions didn't like the projects.
The instructions are well written. The book goes in an order that's good for beginners. I, however, didn't like the options in projects given. There's about 4 that I liked, and then felt like I wasted my money. Maybe it'll make a good gift.
