Q: Is this compatible with Discovery Toys Marbleworks sets?

I haven’t tried the Discovery sets. The pieces looked smaller and the price was almost double so tried this once since it was for a 4 year old.

Q: Are the marbles different designs or colors or are they all the same?

They marbles are all of the same design, but assorted colors.

Q: How many marbles does it come with?

We didn't think to count them, but it was a whole bag full. No less than 20, probably closer to 30.

Q: Can 2 of these sets be joined together to make a larger marble run?

I see no reason why not. You may have to use a table for height for part of it. It is tippy and requires quite a bit of fiddling around when used by kids under 4 who are rougher with it.
