Jim Khalili has collected this excellent series of fascinating essays on how the science and technology of today will appear tomorrow, contributed by leading experts in a wide range of fields from genomics, synthetic biology to robotics, computers and quantum electrodynamics.I found the collection thoroughly enjoyable. Whilst the increasing overlap between these disparate areas of science, their ever-increasing complexity and the accelerating rate of change makes predictions very challenging, the opinions of these authors are sincere and credible (indeed some are already happening) and left me seeking more detailed studies.The contributors offer both exciting promises and some troublesome perils. And some subjects, such transport, cyber-security, artificial intelligence and climate change are topical right now, and help underscore the extent to which some of the book’s predictions are factual.Jim Khalili’s book is especially welcome and relevant in this era of fake news and anti-science sentiment. It is a wonderful and inspiring read for anyone considering career in science.

I bought the book on a whim, thinking that it was written entirely by Jim Al Khalili, but it features many different experts on various scientific disciplines. Lots of cool theories, even in subjects you wouldn't consider at first. Jim writes the final section on Time Travel.
