Modern and relevant - wish I'd had this a few years ago
I've read 2 other networking books... my university, like many others, covered networking but not with the full attention it really deserves. As a developer there have been many times where I felt there was something missing from my knowledge in networking. Most things I've had to google... I'd just never heard of this information. Sure, I know what DNS does - but how does it REALLY work, how is it used.. what is it, exactly?I'd been taught a dated curriculum. What I needed .... was just exactly this book, seriously. As I think back, so many of these little networking related lapses I've run into, where I had to go and research and figure them out on my own... only half really understanding them... well, they're thoroughly explained in this book. Reading it felt like a trip down memory lane: "oh yeah... that problem I had makes alot more sense now.".So that's what I say - it's very modern and this is something that the universities need to take a lesson from.I will give one criticism - I wish there was comprehensive coverage of cloud architectures, and enterprise architectures... just a chapter on that. Hell, I'd give this book 6 stars and hang a poster of its cover art on my wall if it had done that. Oh well.It does cover alot of cloud, just no comprehensive overview of a modern servers architecture.Anyway... another criticism... modernization is great, but don't eliminate good and still relevant content. I'm downloading a PDF of the previous version just to go over those chapters that were cut. It's a testament to how valuable the information is that I'm inclined to do this.Anyway - thank you.BTW this was a review of the print copy. Print copy isn't available on amazon yet, but presumably it will be (I hope it would be - it would just be totally unacceptable for it not to be). There are other ways of getting the print, though - take a look at the writers website.

Can Only be Read on Phone & is Illegible
Can only read it on my phone, since it's not supported through the Kindle browser reader or downloaded reader. The format of the pages does not lend itself to working well on a phone screen. To make it legible, you have to zoom in until it's a normal size & scroll left to right to read all of the content. Usually there's some option to up the font size, but not in this case. Super disappointed, since I need this for school & it's almost impossible to work with. Definitely check out the sample before committing to a purchase to see if it's worth it.

Good info, but many typos
Really good info. However, I'm halfway into chapter 1 and already I've noticed half a dozen typos. Take this one for example:---As discussed in detail in Chapter 7, 802.11 today provides a shared transmission rate of up to more than 100 Mbps.Kurose, James F.; Ross, Keith. Computer Networking (2-downloads) (p. 17). Pearson Education. Kindle Edition.---Grammar is not the right place for quantum superposition. That said... the Kindle for Mac copy paste gives you that nice source line.

Beware! Does not support Kindle Scribe
I purchased this ebook based on its advertised compatibility with Kindle Scribe 1st Gen, which was confirmed by both Amazon and Digital support techs. I even took a screenshot as proof. However, my experience with it was disappointing. After using it successfully for a day and a half, it suddenly stopped working. I was unable to download and kept receiving an error. I reached out to support for assistance, did the basic troubleshooting for hours in total, but they unhelpful. When I called this morning, the representative initially agreed that the ebook should work with Kindle Scribe, but later retracted that statement and claimed it wasn't compatible. This inconsistency in support and functionality is frustrating.

zero reason to buy books at this price - all information is free online
$300 for a text book? this is insane. Even cisco networking academy will give you more current information and cheaper.

Not supported by Kindle for PC.
Initial review, updated. The listing indicates, "This title will be available in all your eligible Kindle apps and devices." However, this book is only supported by Kindle for iOS and Android devices and not by Kindle for PC application devices. Also, instead of the Windows Kindle application indicating that it's not available for download, it indicates it needs to be updated to view the book (providing a useless link to download the application), but instead, it freaks out and eventually crashes. It is all an indication of poor Kindle application support which is very disappointing.
