I have not painted with these. They were bought for wrangling small, fragile invertebrates.The bristles are very soft. Prefect for tickling the toes of a skittish little spiderling during rehousing, to get it moving without scaring it. Soft enough to gently guide one who’s feeling especially timid and having trouble self-starting too.The smaller brushes in the set are also good for pinning down hoppy little feeder insects without harming them so they can be picked up.The handles on these are super long! I spent ages trying to find long-handled paintbrushes. The amount of sellers who assume people know what the numbers mean, and don’t specify the length of the handles, is astounding. I went to art school for a bit and even I have no clue of the exact dimensions of a #8 paintbrush. I finally just bought Amazon recommended ones that had a good rating and a reasonable price.These are exactly what I was after!Cheap brushes CANNOT compare with a good, high quality brush. I’ve used a $50 brush or two and man… exquisite. Even cheap paints lay nicer with a good brush (though quality paint is so much better). This is why we call them “starving artists.” Lol. Quality tools and materials make a BIG difference but don’t come cheap.That said, I think these would do well for the casual artist who is learning and/or making art more as a fun hobby or diversion. You don’t NEED the absolute best tools to make good art. Heck, I’ve seen people paint beautiful things on the back of a paper diner placemat with nothing more than a paper napkin and the dregs of their 9th cup of coffee.These are good brushes. As middle of the road, not totally cheap, but not exactly professional quality brushes go, these definitely rate.

I purchased these for miniature painting to complement a more expensive set of much smaller brushes. The brushes were easy to clean and hold onto paint very well. Funnily they've become my main brushes rather than the pricier sable hair brushes I got them to go with.They're not top of the line but at this price they're surprisingly good.

I've been working with watercolors for a few months now, and I started with some cheaper brushes from Michaels. They were fine except for the shedding. I wanted some affordable brushes that wouldn't shed and allow me to mess around without spending a fortune. These are really great and hold water and color well. It also comes with a lot of sizes. My only reason for four stars is that they are ridiculously long for casual painting. I wish they weren't so long because it makes it difficult to travel with them and use them to doodle. I have attached some photos to show a size comparison to help you decide. I think they're worth it because I like the quality and the size issue isn't worth not using them.Update: I have used them about 8-10 times and last night I did notice that some of the bigger brushes had some shedding. I'm sad because these seemed to hold up well but I will keep using them for now.

Great brush set. Excellent value for the money. I use them for oil portraits. Easy clean and retain the perfect tip.

Although the handles are long, that's easily taken care of with a handsaw and some sandpaper.I've been painting/ inking for 30 years and these inexpensive brushes have a nice sharp point to each and every one. I'll definitely be ordering another set when these eventually wear out. Amazing deal for the price. Used for inking, Acrylic painting and watercolor.

Maybe there's a particular use case that I'm not understanding for these, but I was shocked at how long the handles were! I need to travel with my art supplies and these would not fit in my paintbrush bag due to their length. I also don't think that they would be comfortable to paint with.

These are great but she is the only thing I found that was a problem was the link on the bigger brushes and probably they were created that long for people who are working on an easel but if that bothers you I think you can cut them I have cut the biggest ones and just wrapped the bottom in some really nice tape fir protection but the spring back water capacity and brush balance is wonderful . Grab a set. Fur the price I dint think you’ll go wrong. I know I’m glad I got them. I use them all the time and sine I’ve gotten them I’ve akdi gotten silver brushes and da Vinci Princeton Neptune- I think they all have gier lance but I still have my heart with these abd as a becginer I loved that I got so nay sizes fir s terrific orice. If you don’t have the money to spend on really expensive bushes why I said of these and A good set of paints and you’re ready to go.

They don’t seem to shed, are just the right balance of firm and soft, and, are a pleasure to paint with. Nice variety, great value!

Painting

I have had this set for a couple of months and am very happy with the quality for the price. I am a beginner watercolour hobbist, and this set gave me every brush I needed for the tutorials I have been following. I find these work really well for my floral paintings. Would recommend.

They are too long.. I wanted regular brushes.. now it’s like a decorative items here.. read description carefully..

I was surprised to see that the length of the handle was much longer than I expected. I had underestimated it. Kept the brushes because I like the tips and they paint well. (My husband shortened the handles for me.)
