Watercolor Workbook: 30-Minute Beginner Botanical Projects on Premium Watercolor Paper

This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. If you are new or newish to watercolours, and have been following a few YouTube videos on painting flowers etc, and if you had bought a set of colours and really wanted to try and develop your ability further, then I can't tell you how great this book is for the task!! I bought it due to the great comments and I'm not disappointed. It is very clear and easy to read, so it's easy to read thru BEFORE starting the projects, and there are clear step by step instructions that take you thru each one. You only need the bare basics to get on with this. She also has some really very helpful stuff on colour mixing, and it's so well explained that u start doing it and learning before u know u are! All the projects can be coloured from a small group of colours which can be mixed to get u a huge range, a selection of which is used in the book. It really motivates u to mix up and experiment with mixing. And, because it takes u step by step thru the process, u learn about how to use , wet on wet say, when painting a flower or petal. Breaks it down at your pace which has really been the missing link for me. Going from that flat look to gaining proper blending looks, without lines. The paper is great, I can paint with no worries and she encourages u to paint and mark throught every page. It's so useful that I've been painting constantly! I love this book and can't recommend it enough, she has a second book (it was her first one I think) which is out there so that's next! I bought this for my wife as she wanted to start into water colour art, she absolutely loves the book, it really helps guie her into the world with great practice options and the evolution within all of that.

I love the lay-out and simplicity of the workbook. The colour mixing recipes at the start are amazing and really helpful throughout the book. I'm just a beginner, but already have so much confidence with watercolour after finishing only the first few paintings in the book! This workbook is therapeutic and immensely enjoyable! Highly recommended!

This book be a perfect gift with a small set of watercolours. There is no need to buy watercolour paper for the projects as it's built in to the book. It's also great for someone who wants to learn watercolour skills but is afraid of illustration as the images are sketched in for you to draw around with your pen. I particularly enjoyed the colour recipe section, I learned so much from following those lessons in particular.

A lovely workbook for anyone getting started in watercolours who is interested in pen/ink and wash techniques.Some lovely botanical images to trace or copy or you can paint directly into the book buy it seems a shame to spoil the pages! Highly recommended for those wanting some exercises and advice to follow.

For a newbie like me, this book as been a great start! I loved the colour mixing and the outlining with a pen. It’s easy to follow and gives me structure on what to do next on my learning journey. Paper is not the best but does the job.

This is a lovely book. Instructions are easy to follow, well illustrated too. Best of all, each "paint your own" page is on good quality paper and with simple shapes to embellish. There are colour suggestions and tips for each project. An ideal starting point for learning how to paint with water colours. Looking forward to working my way through the book.
