I bought these for my pet snail tank. It's quite a big tank so I bought 2. Because the tank is plastic I had to go with a lower Watt matt and its quite hard to find lower watt matt that isn't cheap and flimsy but this one has worked really well for me. I also love that it has the adhesive already on there so It can be attached to the side of my tank immediately. It also comes with small feet if I decide to use it underneath my tank.

The mat heated up straight away and was simple to adhere to the side of the vivarium.The thermostat is very bulky and I have an issue with how the thermostat regulates the temperature. The max temperature is set to 32 deg C, the mat reaches this and then there is a loud click as the thermostat turns off - then the temp falls back to 31 degs within a couple of minutes and it loudly clicks back on again.... why can’t it just keep a steady temperature instead of rising/falling and clicking on/clicking off every few minutes? If it continues to do this it will definitely get on my nerves and now that it is adhered to the viv glass I can’t exactly remove it any time soon!My snake loves it though and has been at the mat side of the vivarium all evening - I just wish the temp would stay steady.

My snail went into hibernation for over a month and I needed a bigger heat mat to get the temp right. After one day of attaching this mat he’s awake and happy. I used to have a 7w mat and it just wasn’t getting hot enough, I have a 54l tank which is approx 2ftx1ft and this is the perfect size and watt. I have it attached to a thermostat and hopefully now my snail will nice and warm and happy. I added the mat to the side of the tank and not underneath as i know my old mats just didn’t get through the substrate enough.

Did the job

This might be ok for some animals if they just need a little tiny bit of warm .. but in our 10 degree house in winter when the heating is off it only made a tiny 12" tank go up to 15 degrees. 5 degrees is useless for most reptiles.. lets be honest.My frog needed to be 29 degrees... it wasn't even close, went to local pet shop and got one for the same price, same size but much higher wattage now it gets to 30 degrees, don't waste you're time.

I've previously had a heating mat but due to having to change its position from side wall to bottom, the sticking part was no sticky enough any more and wouldn't hold well at the bottom of my snakes enclosure. So I went looking for a new one.Came across this mat, it was same size as previous I had. It arrived quick as expected, the installation was straightforward, it stuck to the vivarium real nice and strong. Unfortunately when I turned it on it just wasn't working. No heat being produced by the mat at all.Unfortunate experience, but I discovered a thing called double sided tape which magically "fixed" My old mat so it doesn't come off the enclosure :)
