Using this item
The whole reason for using a ring light is to create a shadow free image. Ring lights have been around since the 1960's. They were electronic flash units then, the same principle as a flashgun you put on top of a camera . The way they should be used is to place the lens in the centre of the ring. This creates the all round light effect. By placing at the side of the camera/phone you are getting the same effect as any type of illumination from the side. The only difference is the reflection in the eye will be round. I suggest experimenting if you have one of these or are thinking of ordering
